FAQs

What is microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi permanent makeup that deposits pigment under the skin using a hand tool to allow for more precise, natural looking brows. All tools used at Shine Beauty are single use and disposable - the best option for us and our clients to ensure we offer the most hygienic and safe service.

How long does eyebrow tattooing last?

Microbladed eyebrows generally last between 12-18 months. They are a semi permanent tattoo. Colour will fade differently on each individual depending on their skin type/conditions, lifestyle, diet and skin products used. A perfection visit is needed 4-6 weeks after your initial appointment. A colour refresh is recommended after 12 months to ensure your brows are looking beautiful and defined.

Does it hurt?

Eyebrow microblading isn't as scary as you think... we apply a topical anaesthetic gel to the area prior and also during the tattoo procedure so you will be quite comfortable. Please remember we are tattooing your eyebrows and some discomfort may possibly occur.

How do you know what colour and shape would best suit me?

At Shine Beauty we provide all clients with an in-depth consultation prior to your tattooing. It is here that we discuss your desired shape (taking in consideration your natural hair growth) and also discuss colour choice. We use the highest quality, true to colour pigments so your brows will be looking very natural. We have also undergone intensive colour and skin training to ensure the perfect pigment is chosen and your healed results are ultimate.

What to should I expect immediately after the tattoo procedure?

Immediately after your cosmetic eyebrow tattoo procedure, you will feel slight tingling, sensitivity and also some swelling to the area. This is very normal and will subside in 1-2 days. This is due to the healing process that occurs after your tattoo procedure.

What is the healing process of eyebrow tattooing?

After your initial tattoo appointment, the colour of your new brows will appear intense. Between day 3-10 of healing, you brows will appear darker in colour and start to flake. After day 10, your brows may start to lose pigment and not look as defined due to the skins natural exfoliation process. After 4 weeks, the pigment will begin to reappear and give you a truer indication of colour and overall appearance. Eyebrow tattooing can fade up to 60% after your initial treatment, hence why a perfection visit is required between 4- 6 weeks.

Are there any contraindications to getting my eyebrows tattooed?

Yes there are. The main contraindications to eyebrow tattooing are: pregnancy, breastfeeding, anyone taking blood thinning medication such as Warfran, low levels of iron, sunburnt around the area being treated, Roaccutane use, being under 18 yrs old, auto immune disease, diabetes, heart conditions.
